Amelia Bedelia’s Birthday Bash!

Celebrate Amelia Bedelia’s Birthday on Monday, January 27th, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the community room of the library.

Amelia Bedelia is the protagonist and principal character in books written by Peggy Parish, until her passing in 1988, and now by her nephew, Herman Parish. “Amelia Bedelia” books have been a favorite of young children for generations. Amelia’s character is based upon a maid in Cameroon, where Peggy Parish spent many of her younger years. She is a delightful character that repeatedly misunderstands what she is asked to do, and interprets commands very literally. If she is asked to make a sponge cake, she makes it out of actual sponges; if she is asked to weed the garden, she plants weeds!
