Please join us on Thursday, July 25th at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:15 p.m.) for the second installment of our Writer’s Showcase and Open Mic Night.
This month’s showcase will feature Barbara Taylor, Scott Thomas, and Lauren Stahl.
Barbara J. Taylor was born and raised in Scranton, PA, and teaches English in the Pocono Mountain School District. She has a master’s degree in creative writing from Wilkes University, and English and education degrees from the University of Scranton. Her novel, SAWDUST TRAILS, will be published in May, 2014, by Kaylie Jones Books, an imprint of Akashic Books.
Scott Thomas has a B.A. in Creative Writing/Literature from Bard College, a M.S. in Library Science from Columbia University, and a M.A. in English from the University of Scranton. He is currently employed as a librarian; specifically, Head of Information Technologies & Technical Services at the Scranton Public Library in Scranton, PA. His work has been published in Mankato Poetry Review, The Kentucky Poetry Review, Sulphur River Literary Review, Webster Review, Poetry East, Stirring: A Literary Collection, Poem, Philadelphia Stories, Poetry Bay, Floyd County Moonshine, and other journals. He lives in Dunmore, PA with his wife Christina and son Ethan.
Lauren Stahl, a former Pennsylvania prosecutor, is an avid reader and writer of the crime fiction genre. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law and received her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Wilkes University. Lauren’s first novel, The Devil’s Song, is currently under agency representation with the hopes of reaching publication. She is hard at work on her second novel, The Bottom Line.
An Open Mic Session, open to the public, will follow the showcase.
The event is free to the public and light refreshments will be provided.
